Funding awarded to improve Marston St Lawrence village hall

Today saw more projects awarded funding as part of the HS2 Community and Business Funds.

Registered charity Marston St Lawrence Village Hall, based close to Banbury, has been awarded over £74,000 to restore and improve its hall.

The village hall was constructed 80-years ago with funds raised by the community. As the hall is one of few facilities in Marston St Lawrence and the surrounding villages, it’s an important community space for the village and wider area. The hall often hosts coffee mornings, film nights, quiz nights and pantomimes.

The refurbishment programme includes thermal insulation, a new heating system, lighting, and new décor throughout. The project will provide a comfortable and attractive community facility for sporting activities, arts, crafts, social and private functions. It’s been designed with sustainability in-mind, not only in terms of environmental impact and operating costs, but also to ensure it continues to appeal to the community.

The community and business funds are administered and managed by independent community charity, Groundwork UK. For more information on Groundwork and the funds themselves click here .
